Following discussions between the leaders of Russia and Kyrgyzstan in Moscow, the Kremlin announced on Monday that Russia will "develop" its military installations in its Central Asian ally, Kyrgyzstan. The statement emphasized the importance of bolstering Kyrgyzstan's armed forces and enhancing Russian military facilities within the country.
Kyrgyzstan, a predominantly Muslim nation of about 7 million people, houses a Russian military base, which includes an airfield, a naval installation on Lake Issyk-Kul, and several other sites. President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday, the day before the Victory Day parade, a Soviet war anniversary celebrated in Red Square.
Japarov is among the foreign leaders attending this year's parade. Russia and Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet republic, are connected through the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a Moscow-led military alliance. The Kremlin's statement also highlighted plans to "deepen military and technical cooperation," as well as strengthen economic and cultural ties to achieve a new level of integration.
This agreement to enhance military collaboration comes as Russia's offensive in Ukraine enters its second year and the West considers imposing additional sanctions against Moscow.
Every day history writes the stupidity of the Bush regime. Bush the Younger should have allied WITH Saddam to destroy the Mullahs, and then established a permanent and invincible military presence that assured the peaceful economic development and diversiification of both of these backward nations. Instead, the dopey junior empowered rhe Mullahs and provided Putin with his own FOB in Iran. Chowderhead doesn’t begin to cover it.
Strengthening military ties with Russia is like getting up close and friendly with a boa constrictor
