Pope Francis Reveals Secret Peace Mission in Ukraine and Pledges Support for Family Reunification

Pope Francis announced on Sunday that a covert peace mission is ongoing in Ukraine, though he provided no further details. He also expressed the Vatican's willingness to assist in the reunification of Ukrainian children taken to Russia during the conflict. The Pope made these remarks during a press conference on his return flight from Hungary, stating he is ready to do anything to help.

The Pope did not disclose any specifics regarding peace initiatives during his meetings with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban or the Russian Orthodox Church representative in Hungary this weekend. The issue of Ukrainian children's deportations has been a concern since Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year. Pope Francis confirmed that the Holy See has already helped mediate some prisoner exchanges and will do everything humanly possible to reunite families.

In March, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia's children's commissioner, accusing them of war crimes for abducting Ukrainian children. Russia has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the children were relocated for their safety.

Last week, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Pope Francis at the Vatican, requesting his help in returning Ukrainian children taken after the Russian invasion. The Pope recalled that the Holy See had facilitated some prisoner exchanges through embassies and was receptive to Ukraine's request to help reunite children with their families.

The Pope emphasized the importance of doing everything humanly possible to support family reunifications and confirmed the Holy See's commitment to assisting in these efforts.

After this was posted, the Pope met with the Russian Orthodox Patriarch. My guess is he is pressing the Patriarch to speak with Putin on his behalf to find out acceptable terms for peace and relay them, as well as find a way to repatriate forcibly moved Ukrainians. I believe he "dropped " this b of news to put more pressure on Russia.

I doubt the Pope can broker a deal to end this conflict unless Putin becomes extremely desperate.

I cannot believe that your postings would be banned on you tube when thy are available in many newspapers or tv shows. Your "banned" you tube videos are very mild compared to other much better you tube sites that are not banned.
